The Institute for the Law of Digitalisation, which was newly established in 2018, bundles and strengthens the department's expertise in a cross-sectional area of law resulting from the effects of the digitalisation process on existing legal systems.

Research activities currently focus on commercial, corporate, banking and capital markets law at the German, European and international level,
and international level, as well as data protection and communications law. The Institute is committed to intensive cooperation with legal practice and to genuine interdisciplinarity.

Once a year, a conference on current legal issues related to digitalisation is held in Marburg.

The directors of the Institute are Prof. Dr. Florian Möslein, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Omlor and Prof. Dr. Buchheim.
